Letter from Pastor Mayne:
Salutations, greetings and words of good cheer dear brothers and sisters of Worship Company Christian Fellowship. As of October 31, 2009, my tenure as pastor of Worship Company will come to an end. This has been an interesting journey; truly one that I will never forget. God does work in mysterious ways His wonders to perform. It has been an honor to be in your service, and I know that God has amazing things in store for each of our lives. Sometimes we don’t understand why things happen the way they do, and certainly many things happen in a way opposite than what we think, but God’s ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Because we are His children, we can rest assured that He is not finished with us and will complete the plans He has for us. “All things work together for good to them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose”.
Please know that even though I will no longer officially be your pastor, I will always be available for any needs that might arise. Do not hesitate to call upon me for prayer or whatever your need, as whatever is in my power to do and in God’s will, I will do. I am still a servant of the mighty God and just because I won’t see you on a semi monthly basis does not mean that I am not concerned for your well being.
For those of you still looking for possible church options, let me suggest a few. As you are aware, right at the time we decided to close the location on Redlands Blvd, another church, “Xcell” stepped in. (What timing) They are an Adventist group and I had the opportunity to worship with them for their first Sabbath in the Loma Linda area last Sabbath. That service was well attended by former Worship Company members. The spirit of God is truly with them. They are determined to win souls for Christ, and their target area is San Bernardino. This church is on fire for lost souls and they are working! They are meeting at the Victoria S.D.A. church on Mountain View at 4:00 on Sabbath afternoons. The plan for the old “Worship Company” location is to have a food bank. Keep in mind, Operation Sacklunch meets every 1st and 3rd Sabbath and everyone is always welcome. We meet at the home of Curtis and Diana Alexander at 9:30 a.m. on OSL Sabbaths to make lunches and toiletry packs and take them out in the San Bernardino community. Of course, you are aware of all the other churches in the area. Every church has something to offer and God is at work everywhere. And let’s not forget AD 27 now from Campus Hill will be performing on Friday evening Oct 30, 2009. You can contact Wendell and Francis for more information.
This is just information. Obviously you will go where the Lord leads you and where He can use you and the talents He has given you. Pray and look for where the Lord wants you to be and where you can best use the gifts He has given you. In doing this, you will find fulfillment and in the process lead someone to Christ. Please consider this; true service will take you out of your comfort zone.
I was fortunate enough to do a study called “Experiencing God” years ago. In this study, we were admonished to look for and seek where God was working and to join Him in his work. There is no better satisfaction than knowing the Lord has called you to do something and then doing it.
We (Worship Company) had considered having a retreat this coming weekend, but many people expressed that their schedules would not allow them to participate; so a retreat was not planned. We also had considered doing “Home” church, but there does not seem to be much interest in that. The thought was to have some sort of closure; however the Worship Company ministry is not closed, just the location. It is still a ministry that as I understand it will seek to minister in the form of missionary projects, sowing into other ministries and to each other in fellowship. I’m sure you will hear more in the future.
It might be nice to have a potluck on this last Sabbath. If this is something you are interested in doing please RSVP no later than Friday morning, Oct 30 with what you would like to bring. This is just to make sure that everybody doesn’t bring the same thing. How about we have a real pot LUCK and see what happens. Bring your favorite dish, enough to serve 20 people and please bring something substantial. We can provide plates, cups flatware, drink, salad and a dish. We know that many people have things going on this weekend as well as ourselves, but hey, we all need to eat and we know how Worship Company feels about eating. (ha ha). The responses we get back by Friday morning will determine if we have a potluck.
As I said in the beginning of this letter, it has been an honor and a humbling experience to serve you as pastor and to get to know you! Nothing is a coincidence with God. He has a purpose in everything whether we see it or not; so trust Him.
May God richly bless you and your families and may He bless Worship Company abundantly in the next phase of its journey. May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord lift His face to shine upon you and give you peace; both now and forevermore. Amen.
Faithful in His service,
Pastor Michael C. Mayne
